We work closely with private homeowners, interior designers, and architects to deliver premium stone heating solutions tailored for both high-end residential properties and commercial spaces.

Whether your property suits a traditional hand-carved mantelpiece or a sleek, large-format modern feature wall, our master stonemasons turn raw stone into breathtaking focal points.

Hand-Carved Bolection Fire Surrounds: British Artisanship

At Love Stone, we manufacture bespoke bolection stone fire surrounds entirely in-house. Our skilled craftsmen hand-carve every bolection surround from solid blocks of premium stone, using clean, elegant profiles that allow the natural material to highlight the shape of the fireplace.

The rigorous attention to detail in the moulding, paired with the sophisticated simplicity of the foot blocks, creates a cohesive architectural look. With our advanced technical skill, we pride ourselves on being one of only a few stone fabrication companies in the UK capable of producing genuine, solid bolection fire surrounds.

By manufacturing entirely in our local workshop, we eliminate the massive lead times associated with imports from Italy and China. Our expert sawyers cut raw slabs so that the natural stone veining flows seamlessly down through the fireplace legs, while our stonemasons meticulously hand-sand the surface to create a highly tactile, flawless finish.

The cost of bespoke stonework can vary depending on factors such as the type of stone used, the complexity of the design, and the size of the project. While bespoke stonework may be more expensive upfront compared to pre-made options, many clients view it as a worthwhile investment due to its unique craftsmanship, customisation options, and its individuality.

Common types of stone used in bespoke stonework include marble, granite, limestone, sandstone, slate, and travertine. Each type of stone offers unique characteristics in terms of colour, texture, durability, and suitability for different applications.

Because we control the entire design, cutting, and hand-carving pipeline in our own UK workshop, our standard lead time is just three weeks from the moment technical drawings are signed off.

The process typically begins with a consultation between the client, designer and ourselves, to discuss the client’s vision, suitable requirements, and preferences. From there, the designer creates detailed plans or sketches, which are then refined in collaboration with the client.

Once the design is finalised, we will start the process of selecting the materials and once selected begin the fabrication process, which will involve cutting, shaping, carving, and finishing the stone. Finally, the bespoke stonework is installed at the designated location.

A few simple checks can prevent many problems on installation. Access is very important, as some of the bespoke fire surrounds can be very tricky to get into properties. Additionally, we need to check the substrate is solid and can take the weight and third, ensure that if gas is required, it is all correct. It can prove very costly to change once installed.

Daily maintenance requires only a dust or a wipe down with a soft microfibre cloth and a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Never use acidic everyday household cleaners or limescale removers on marble or limestone, as acid chemically etches and dulls the stone’s surface.

Yes. Natural stone is highly fire-resistant and acts as an excellent thermal mass, absorbing heat from your fire and gently radiating it back into the room. However, certain stones like marble or limestone require professional installation to ensure correct expansion joints are left near high-heat wood-burning stoves.

Slab fireplaces use precision-cut, 20mm or 30mm thick stone panels expertly mitred together to give a solid appearance, which is ideal for modern, lightweight, or large-format designs. Solid block fireplaces are hand-carved directly out of a single, heavy block of stone, offering a traditional, deeply textured, and monolithic structure.
