Description
Thassos Marble from Greece is globally recognised as the pinnacle of white natural stone. Quarried on the emerald island of Thassos in the North Aegean Sea, this Snow White marble is famous for its luminous, sugar-like crystalline structure. Unlike other white marbles that may have grey or gold veins, authentic Thassos is prized for its 99% pure white background, making it the ultimate choice for minimalist luxury and high-end architectural statements.
The Science of Brilliance: What is Thassos Marble?
Thassos is a Dolomitic marble, meaning it is denser and harder than many of its Italian counterparts.
Crystalline Matrix: Its unique grain reflects light like a diamond, creating a “sparkle” effect that is impossible to replicate with porcelain or synthetic materials.
Refractive Index: Thassos has the highest light-reflectivity of any natural stone, naturally brightening any room and creating a sense of “infinite” space.
Applications
This natural stone is suitable for internal use: floor, wall, vanity tops and stair covering in both private housing and in public buildings with moderate and intensive collective use. The stone material and the stone finish should be selected to suit the area it is being applied to.
While versatile, Thassos is the “gold standard” for specific high-end use cases:
The “Total White” Bathroom: Used for floor-to-ceiling cladding to create a spa-like, clinical luxury.
Pool Decks & Coping: Because it reflects UV rays, it remains cool underfoot in hot climates—perfect for Mediterranean-style estates.
Luxury Mosaics: Its fine grain allows for precision cutting in intricate waterjet patterns and basketweaves.
Commercial Lobbies: Its high density allows it to maintain a high-gloss polish even in high-traffic 5-star hotels.

Sealing
When the finished surface is completely dry, the areas can be protected with a suitable sealer. Stain Proof Impregnating Sealer will give an invisible, breathable, long term protection from water and oil based stains.
Maintenance
For flooring it is advisable to use a dry micro fiber mop where possible, this will reduce the risk of scratching. Regular professional cleaning is advised. When wet washing always use an acid-free product! Allow the floor to dry thoroughly during the first 3 to 6 months. During this period it is important to use only a small amount of water to mop the floor and allow the surplus moisture to evaporate from the tiles; also use a product that does not seal the pores of the stone (e.g. Lithofin MN Easy Care Cleaner). This product is always added to the wash water and can be used for future regular cleaning. Worktops should be cleaned with a neutral PH cleaner, and dried with a soft cotton cloth.
